Xiaomi will soon be offering a Segway-like device. Release date is set for Nov.3, and Segway's upcoming competition is expected to have a more affordable price tag.

The Chinese tech company recently announced its new products, expanding beyond its line of smartphones. One of this is the self-balancing electric scooter called the Ninebot Mini.

Android Headlines noted that the announcement for the Ninebot Mini is "quite probably the most interesting and unexpected" from the reveals made by Xiaomi on Monday, Oct. 19.

Xiaomi invested in the Beijing-based company called Ninebot, which acquired the inventor of the self-balancing vehicle, Segway Inc, according to Shanghai Daily. Six months after the acquisition, the Ninebot Mini is here.

Xiaomi's Ninebot Mini is made out of "aerospace-grade magnesium alloy." In addition to the e-scooter, the Mi phone maker will also make safety gear sets available in the market for about $27.

Weighing only 12.8 kg, the Ninebot Mini can reach the speed of 16 kilometers per hour. Moreover, it can run for 22km before it runs out of battery.

The Ninebot Mini also climbs 15-degree inclines effortlessly. Tech lovers excited to try the e-scooter can also expect a lightweight, compact and shoulder-width length design for the upcoming transportation device, according to MIUI.

There's also another interesting feature offered by the Ninebot Mini. Accordingly, it can be controlled via smartphone.

To use the Xiaomi Ninebot Mini, the riders only need to steer the e-scooter with their legs as the device automatically responds to body movements. Leaning forward signals the electric scooter to move forward, while leaning backward is for reversing.

The price is so much cheaper than the rival's offering as it will only be worth a quarter of Segway's average cost. Accordingly, Xiaomi's Ninebot Mini will be priced at 1,999 Yuan or approximately 314 US dollars.

Aside from the e-scooter, Xiaomi also announced its own smart TV. The tech company unveiled the 60-inch Xiaomi TV that features a super high-definition screen resolution, a very thin design and semi-professional speakers.

The Xiaomi TV also comes with a cheaper price of $786, nearly half of the average market cost of a 60-inch TV. Shanghai Daily also noted that it is the largest television ever released by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Ninebot Mini and Xiaomi TV's release date is set for Nov. 3 this year. Currently, Xiaomi holds the second spot for being the biggest smartphone brand in China, following the leading company, Huawei Technologies.
