Introduced during last month's IFA 2015 trade show in Berlin, the Huawei Mate S will officially launch in Malaysia next Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Specs of the large-screen smartphone include a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Huawei's octa-core Kirin 935 processor, 3 GB of RAM and a non-removable 2,700 mAh battery, SoyaCincau reported.

The Mate S comes in three storage space variants: 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. However, folks in Malaysia will only be treated with the 32 GB model, the reason for this was not disclosed.

Huawei's upcoming premium device has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and Optical Image Stabilizer while its eight-megapixel front-facing unit is equipped with a LED flash of its own. The handset runs on the Android-based EMUI 3.1 and supports dual-SIM slots as well as 4G LTE connectivity.

The Mate S is fitted with a pressure sensitive display like those in latest-gen iPhones. The feature lets users do more things like zooming and previewing with more vigorous taps on the screen. The handset also has the Knuckle Sense functionality, a carryover from the Huawei P8.

According to Gizmo China, Knuckle Sense lets users interact with the touchscreen interface with the use of their knuckles. The feature opens up a host of auxiliary functions that enhances the overall touchscreen experience.

Unfortunately for the Malaysian market, only the 128 GB model comes with a pressure Force Touch display. It's also probable that only the higher-ended variant will feature the Knuckle Sense functionality

GSM Arena pointed out the standard versions of the Mate S will retail for €649 or roughly $740 while the price tag of its Premium version will hover around €699 or $795.

Another Huawei offering scheduled for release later this year is the Mate 8 phablet.

The six-inch 1440 x 2560 QHD device is expected to be available starting late November or early December, as per MyDrivers via Android Headlines.

It is said to be powered by Huawei's high-end processor, the Kirin 950, while having 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB storage space. Furthermore, it is fitted with a 21-megapixel main camera and an eight-megapixel selfie shooter.

The 3 GB Mate 8 will allegedly sell for ¥3,299 or roughly $520 while its 4 GB model will cost ¥3,899 or around $610.

The phablet's global availability has yet to be reported although Huawei has a knack for making its products available in the U.S. through the company's web store or via online retailers like Amazon and Best Buy.
