'The Voice' Season 13 Battle Rounds Recap: Rihanna set to Steal the Show, Amy Vachal Sends Lovebirds Jubal and Amanda Packing
If the sneak previews are any indication, Rihanna is planning on putting on a show of shows as special mentor on Season 9 of "The Voice."
According to the Daily Mail, NBC officials teased the sultry singer's guest-starring role at the end of their last episode and to say she steals the show would be an understatement on par with saying the 27-year-old pop star has had a hit or two over the last several years.
The "Umbrella" singer is slated to serve as a special mentor to all the coaches this season, entrusted with helping them mold their singers into the dynamic and polish stars they envision them as. With the crucial knockout rounds now in full swing, the clip also seemed to suggest she will easily have all the remaining contestants eating out of her hand for the rest of the season.
Reports state many of the contestants rushed her upon sight, with one starstruck one admitting, "I'm going pee my pants."
Through it all, Rihanna was Rihanna. At one point, busting out in a dazzlingly powerful, impromptu vocal, then turning to a contestant and instructing, "That what I want you to do."
Later she danced a sexy dance for contestant Amy Vachal, lecturing her, "This is a song about a fantasy -- I want you to be in the music."
And the contestants weren't the only ones left mesmerized. At one point, Pharrell Williams looks and marvels, "Wow, I love my job," while Adam Levine added, "Rihanna is incredible. I absolutely adore her."
Before the end of the night, Rihanna was letting everyone know that all the love was mutual.
'I love 'The Voice,'" she said. "I love giving back and helping others, and this is a rare opportunity where I get to do that with real talented artists."
As for the competition itself, Williams used the nights' only remaining steal to land 22-year-old Morgan Frazier, the first time he has had a country singer on his team.
And in arguably the night's biggest showdown, Williams pushed Vachal through to the next round after her battle with duet lovebirds Jubal and Amanda. Earlier in the season, the two officially became engaged in a proposal scene that played on out live on the show.
