Windows 10 Mobile Update: Build 10572 Tells How Many Rings Caller Waited Before Dropping the Call
Microsoft's latest mobile operating system affords users with the convenience of having a PC-grade device in the palm of their hands. Its integration with Windows 10 for desktop computers lets it switch between smartphone and PC display, depending on what device the user is running it on.
Aside from its sheer ingenuity and large-scale ambition, Windows 10 Mobile also carries improvements to minor mobile features.
A tester from Microsoft's Windows 10 Mobile Insider program recently reported that the latest version of the OS, bearing the build number 10572, tells users how many rings a caller waited before deciding to drop the call. See screenshot here.
The capability might seem innocuous, but WM Power User explained that Microsoft has put some thought in ensuring Windows 10 smartphone users will be less vulnerable to premium number scams.
With the said scam, someone with ulterior motives calls and hangs ups immediately before the call makes its way to voice mail. When users see the missed call notification, they dial the number, oblivious to the fact that they may have called services that charge money for the call.
By knowing if a caller hanged up after just one ring, users are alerted to the possible scam. The ring counter feature prevents users from returning suspicious calls, saving time and money in the process.
"Haha...bad times start for people giving a missed call and claiming that 'i called but you didn't picked the phone," Ashish Ahuja commented on the report.
Meanwhile, Ejaz Ahmed can't seem to make up his mind, "I love this! And hate it! What...? Can't make up my mind. I'm gonna find out which of my friends are petty liars for sure."
Testers who saw the feature on build 10572 had to down grade their smartphones back to Windows Phone 8.1 before being able to install this version of the OS.
According to WinBeta, other added features of build 10572 are improved battery life and a Cortana capability that lets users send text messages from PC to smartphone. It also has enhancements to Skype messaging, calling and overall video experience.

Windows 10 Mobile is on a league of its own compared to other mobile OS since its cut from the same cloth as Windows 10 for desktop computers, per Cubic Lane.
The same Windows 10 features and apps for PC can run on Windows 10 Mobile smartphones albeit in watered-down versions, without developers having to create totally different builds of the same app.
