Netflix has always been a delight on Halloween for fans of the holiday. This year, the streaming platform has quite a few options for subscribers of the video-streaming buffet to choose from.

Although all good Halloween films have some element of horror in them, not all horror movies take the Halloween holiday as a theme. But these are the kind of films that capture the holiday spirit, especially on Netflix.

At the top of the list is the franchise that defines the holiday spirit: "Halloween." Although the original film by John Carpenter is not offered on the platform, some of its sequels are. "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers" ("Halloween 6") and "Halloween: Resurrection" ("Halloween 8") are both available.

"The Curse of Michael Myers" closes the final chapter in the Jamie Lloyd series of films, which eventually veered away from Laurie Strode.

"Resurrection" essentially closed out the Laurie Strode series of films, essentially completing the Strode saga that started over two decades earlier in 1978.

For those who want to stick to the strict Halloween theme in their October holiday video feast, "Sleepy Hollow" is also available on the platform. Of course, this is the Tim Burton version of the film, which re-envisions the original tale in the director's trademark style.

Another option is the film that made Brandon Lee a legendary actor, given that he died during its production. "The Crow" is billed as a horror movie on the website, but some might consider it more of a tragic action film. It does, however, use Halloween as a theme, and it is still an expertly crafted tale of horrifying events.

For those who want to step even further back into classic horror, Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby" is also on the menu for the month. The director's horrifying cinematic achievement has been hailed by many as one of the scariest movies ever made.

A few other excellent films that are worth checking out on Netflix over Halloween are "The Omen," "The Others," The Sixth Sense," "Scream" and "Children of the Corn."
