‘Batman v Superman’ News, Spoilers: Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck Reveal Plot Details, Superhero Motivations
The stars of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" have opened up about the film's plot and the reason behind the epic superhero battle, which will eventually lead into the "Justice League" universe of films.
In an interview with Total Film, as reported by Variety, Ben Affleck (Batman) and Henry Cavill (Superman) discussed the film's plot, how the two superheroes were drawn into battle, and the direction the film will lead the DC cinematic universe.
"What happens there is one of Bruce's buildings gets destroyed and he's trying to save all the people inside the building and he can't," Cavill told Total Film. "So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?"
Fans had already learned some of the details of that premise based on previously released movie trailers.
However, fans did not know that the film will engage in a lot of prologue, before leading up to the eventual war between the two titans. The final step in that prologue will likely be the destruction of the Wayne Financial Building, which acts as the catalyst for the primary conflict.
But Affleck also had more to add about Bruce Wayne and his character's motivations in the film.
"He's found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman," Affleck said. "So it's how he got there, and what that's done to him, and what that's done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It's something that's interesting and new."
Fans may or may not know that, even though there will be an epic battle between the two DC superheroes, there will also be a new threat that emerges out of their conflict. This new danger will transcend both heroes' anger toward one another in some way.
