‘Cobalt' Release Date Delayed; Minecraft Creator's New Game Arriving February 2016
Cobalt's release date has been delayed. Mojang announces new launch schedule for the game via its official site.
According to the post, it will not be able to hit its original release date which is set for Oct. 30, 2015. Fans excited for "Cobalt" will now see the launch of the Mojang game on Feb. 2016.
Mojang, via its official Youtube channel, also released a video announcing that the launch party for "Cobalt" is cancelled until further notice. Watch the video below:
Explaining the reason for "Cobalt's" delayed arrival, Mojang revealed that it is because of the bugs. "We've been working on Cobalt for a long time and, though the game is feature complete, our current build is buggier than we're comfortable with," Mojang's post read.
The Minecraft maker also noted that they want all elements of "Cobalt" including challenges, local as well as online multiplayer and the campaign to live up to the gamers' expectations. And to do this, it will need more development time.
"Cobalt's" publisher Mojang and its developer, Oxeye Game Studio, also shared that they don't really need four months to fix all the bugs. However, the post cited that "releasing a game on console is an especially complicated business."
According to the post, it entails release windows, to pass through certification requirements and a lot more before a game's console versions can be made available.
"Cobalt" is an action-oriented side-scrolling video game. It is expected to arrive on Xbox 360, Xbox One and Steam.
Despite the delay on "Cobalt's" release date, gamers have the chance to enjoy the game now. According to Cobalt's official site, Alpha version is currently available on PC and Mac.
"Cobalt," the adventure game for one to two players, offers various game modes such as Deathmatch, Capture the Plug and Team-Strike. There are also speed and combat challenges available in the game.
Players will also enjoy the survival mode featured in the game, as well as cute robots and tons of upgradeable guns.
The online multiplayer is available for up to 8 players on Windows Steam, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The Windows and Mac versions are getting a level editor.
Other features to expect from "Cobalt" are slo-mo combat rolls and rocket punches and Tamable Space Hunters.
"Cobalt" is currently available for pre-order for €9.95. Interested gamers who will decide to purchase the game now will get access to the Alpha versions available for Mac and Microsoft Windows users.
