Christina Milian isn't trying to hide her feelings for rap star Lil Wayne, even though the couple officially called it quits on their year-long relationship more than a month ago.

"What's fantastic about everything is that we're adults, and we understand maybe it's not the right time for us, but we do love each other," the 34-yer-old Milian recently told HuffPost Live. "And I think the best thing is to preserve our friendship and not ruin it trying to force it."

While Milian let it be known she may ultimately be open to giving their love another try, she also thinks the two deserve a little applause for how maturely they've both handled the situation.

"It takes a big man and a big woman to actually say like, 'Okay, I'm in love with you, but I can't keep forcing it - it's only pushing us apart,'" she said.

The two singers recently released the duet "Do It." From the video, it's clear they still have burning chemistry.

"There might be a right time," she added. "This might be just it, and at the end of the day we're still here. We talk to each other still every day."

Milian added she is drawn to the raunchy rapper for his sweet and caring ways, a side of him she admits not everyone always gets to see.

"He's a really, really just nice guy," she added. "When the two of us are in the right place we're adventurous, we try new things. And I think that's one of the most exciting things about relationships is being spontaneous."

The two publicly began dating last July. At the time, Milian shared with reporters that the two were "living freely" and "both very happy."
