Just in time for Halloween, "The X-Files" has officially released a new teaser showing them hot on the trail of a monster this time instead of aliens.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the limited run of the revival series has been heavily focused on the original premise of the show, which is alien activity on the planet and the government's role in covering it up.

But the show also featured the classic monster themes in its original run on Fox in the '90s. Now that the series has been revived and will officially be coming back to Fox next January, it has been confirmed that it will also be returning to its broad sci-fi roots and will feature the monsters angle.

That is, after all, what the true "X-Files" was all about. It was Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) taking on the cases that were too hard to explain. They investigated those cases that did not have an easy to understand truth to them.

So to fit alongside the theme of alien activity, monsters were also a natural element that struck fear into the hearts of people.

The teaser itself did not show any actual monsters but had Scully talking about them as she tried to prepare Mulder for their next case, which she said "has a monster in it."

"When has that ever stopped us before?" Mulder replied in a comical way befitting of his trademark characteristics.

Although the show is expected to lean heavily on the alien themes, monsters will no doubt make an appearance in the six-episode run for the series, which debuts on Jan. 24, 2016.

The teaser is also a throwback to the good old days of the show, which shows both of them in the basement embracing their mission before launch.
