Mike Tyson Endorses Donald Trump: 'Should be President of the United States'
Although Donald Trump might be slipping in the polls, there is at least one heavyweight champ standing in his corner: Mike Tyson.
During a recent sit down interview with the HuffPost Live, the former boxing champion proclaimed his support behind the billionaire businessman's presidential bid.
"He should be president of the United States," Tyson said. "Let's try something new. Let's run America like a business, where no colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job. "
When asked whether he favored either Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, Tyson seemed to be a critic of both and quickly reiterated his endorsement for Trump.
"I like Trump," he answered.
Despite Trump's infamous anti-immigration comments, Tyson added that he does not believe that the former "The Apprentice" star has a negative perception on Latinos. He admitted the remarks were "crude," but said he doesn't think Trump "thinks of Latinos in that way."
"I don't think he thinks of Latinos in that way. I really don't believe that," Tyson said. "He's a businessman. He's just saying what the people want and the people want to hear that. If you believe that he believes that, you have to believe that most of the country believes that because they're voting for him."
"I don't believe 90 percent of the country believe Latinos that were born here and their parents are illegal got to go. It hasn't happened yet," he added.
Other celebrities that have endorsed Trump include controversial political pundit Ann Coulter, radio host Michael Savage, actor Gary Busey and Steven Baldwin, reports Fortune.
After months of leading in the 2016 Republican presidential race, a CBS News and New York Times poll released Tuesday shows that Trump has fallen behind Ben Carson. Twenty-six percent of Republican primary voters backed the retired neurosurgeon, compared to 22 percent who support the real estate mogul.
