A woman accusing Chicago Bulls star guard Derrick Rose of being one of three men who broke into her Los Angeles apartment and gang raped her in 2013 is now seeking $21.5 million in damages.

TMZ reports court records show the unidentified woman is demanding $6 million in compensatory damages and another $15.5 million in punitive damages.

The 27-year-old former league MVP has acknowledged being intimate with the woman and even engaging in group sex with her on several occasions, but insists it was all consensual.

Attorneys for Rose have also previously claimed the woman has tried to squeeze him for money before, and this is yet another attempt by her "to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete."

A representative for Rose, Lisa Cohen, adds the NBA star and the woman were once in a "non-exclusive," physical relationship that lasted for about two years. Cohen also maintains the alleged victim never voiced any complaints about the nature of their involvement, until lawyers began counseling her about going after her client monetarily. She adds the plaintiff is now on her third attorney.

In a petition that identified her as Jane Doe, the woman claims Rose and two friends drugged and gang raped her, after breaking into her apartment. She further claims she waited more than two years to lodge her complaint out of embarrassment.

"We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated," Cohen said. "This lawsuit is outrageous."

After becoming the youngest MVP in league history, Rose signed a $94.3 million extension with the Bulls in 2011. In Tuesday night's season opener, with President Barack Obama looking on, he scored 18 points and handed out five assists, leading Chicago to a 97-95 win over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The case is likely to go to trial in late 2017.
