Samsung is set to announce an ultra-large tablet called the Galaxy View that will be perfect for watching videos with an 18.4-inch screen.

The company recently posted several images of the device on their blog. Samsung first teased the Galaxy View tablet at the IFA trade show in Berlin in September, but has officially confirmed the tablet with the blog post, CNet reports.

This tablet is definitely designed for viewing movies and TV shows. It is loaded with a media-based interface. On the home screen, the tablet features media apps designed to access different types of videos.

The Galaxy View will be targeted at individuals who want a high-resolution screen that is portable enough to take anywhere. Although the device will be quite heavy at 2.65 kg, it will have a special carrying handle, as well as a kickstand to keep it propped up during viewing.

The 18.4-inch screen on the Galaxy View will display a full HD 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Above the screen will be a front-facing 2.1 megapixel camera for video chats. To keep the Galaxy View powered, a big 5,700 mAh battery will be included. Samsung promises up to eight hours of video playback with this battery.

The Galaxy View will be powered by a quad-core processor running at 1.6 GHz and 2GB of RAM will be included. For storage, a 32GB and 64GB versions will be offered. More storage can be added through the microSD slot.

When it ships, the Galaxy View tablet will not be pre-loaded with the latest version of Android. Instead of utilizing the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Galaxy View will be pre-loaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Eventually, the tablet will receive the update to Marshmallow.

Samsung is calling the Galaxy View "the largest Android mobile device on the market." Hopefully, the heavy weight won't keep people from buying it.
