‘Wonder Woman’ Film News: Chris Pine Confirms Role in Standalone Movie
The DC Cinematic Universe is officially expanding this year with news Chris Pine has signed on for a role in the new "Wonder Woman" standalone film, featuring Gal Gadot in the titular role.
According to an interview on French online publication Premiere, as translated by Comic Book, the "Star Trek" star has finally came out with the news he will be playing a role in the film, but he fell short of saying what that role will be.
"I do not really know what I'm allowed to tell you," Pine said.
"I'm super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will perform, and we will shoot in film ... What excites me most is to turn in a movie with a superhero woman."
He seemed to really be excited about the gender significance of the film and the role he will playing alongside the two women. It is in fact the first female led superhero film in the post "Iron Man" era and will no doubt be the benchmark for the future of the industry.
"With a woman in the lead role," Pine said, "I am a team with this intelligent, beautiful and strong [woman] to destroy the wicked and save humanity. The routine, whatever."
There have long been rumors Pine will be cast as Steve Trevor in the film, but that has not been confirmed. There have also been other rumors , such as Pine being one of the Green Lanterns in "Green Lantern Corp.," which means he could be playing the early onset of a much bigger role for other films in the DC Cinematic Universe. The first of which will be next year's debut of "Batman v Superman," which will feature Gadot in her first appearance as Wonder Woman.
