Leah Remini Targets Tom Cruise in her Fight With Scientology
Leah Remini has seemingly set her sights on Tom Cruise in her ongoing battle with Scientology church leaders.
"Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself... you are evil," USA Today reports Remini recently reflected in an interview set to air on ABC.
A former member of the religion turned critic, Remini is now sharing all her many experiences of her three decades in the church in her new memoir "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology" to be published early next month.
Now 45, Remini has already shared with reporters Cruise is part of the reason she finally made the decision to totally break from the religion and church she had been a part of since her childhood. In her mind, Cruise is that big a part of Scientology has become
"As time goes on, you start to lose touch with the real world," she said. "The mindset becomes 'Us against them.' The decision to leave is you are giving up everything you have ever known and everything you have worked for your whole life."
Remini officially quit the church in 2013, insisting that she could no longer adhere to the church policies and the rules of leader David Miscavige, which included "branding those who leave as 'suppressive persons' and forcing their remaining family members to cease all contact."
Later, she also hinted that she left the church because of her 9-year-old daughter Sofia and her fear her life was already starting to "resemble her own much-resented Scientology-centric childhood in Florida."
Church members immediately deemed Remini as "self-absorbed" and as someone with an "insatiable attitude for attention."
Currently serving as a guest host of "Dancing With the Stars," Remini has yet to respond to any of the criticisms lodged against her.
