Taxis aren't gone and they may still be around for a long time if the use of the new app for taxis will soon be implemented.

According to TechRadar, a new app will eventually allow a regular taxi to catch up on what Uber can offer and it's called TaxiOS. Flywheel, a California-based app developer made a dry run of the project to see how it will work with the conventional taxi. The TaxiOS is said to be the answer to the high cost of updating the equipment for taxis. The said app will run on Motorola Moto E software and will work just like Uber.

The TaxiOS app will enable passengers as well as drivers several modes of payment for their travel such as using a credit card, cash payment and even mobile payment. This modes of payment for the conventional taxi is what will set it apart from Uber, wherein the latter only accepts mobile payments. The ability to still hail a taxi even in the absence of credit card is still widely promoted. Primarily, the taxi app will be introduced in parts of Portland, Sacramento, San Diego and Seattle. The taxi app's pilot venture already started in San Francisco.

Flywheel has been honest about their intentions and disclosed that once the app is implemented, the developer will also start receiving payment cut for every successful credit and mobile payment. The company, on the other hand, said that they will not take cuts from cash payments even if the transit used their software.

According to CBC, the city of Ottawa has a limited number of taxis, setting it at one taxi per 784 residents. But they also have three options on how to actually control and delegate the number of taxis and Uber services roaming the city.

First, instead of limiting the number of taxis, the city of Ottawa may also implement the license fee applicable for new plates. The annual fee should also be implemented to older licenses and the year that follows through.

Another option is to charge Uber for every trip they have made. This will protect part-time drivers from paying more than those who drive Uber full-time. Taxi performances should also be strictly monitored in order to see whether they are deemed for a renewal or not. Taxis are generally being overpowered by Uber, primarily because of their cheaper fares and that of their modern way of paying for their travel fair.
