Lamar Odom has been badgering his doctors to prescribe him powerful drugs like Oxycontin as he continues to recover from complications caused by an apparent drug overdose.

Radar Online reports the development has raised a red flag for doctors, who were previously growing more optimistic about a possible full recovery for the former NBA star. Over the last several days, Odom has been removed from dialysis treatment, and reports are he will not be requiring a kidney transplant as many once feared he would.

"Lamar was moved out of ICU earlier this week because of the progress that has been made," a source said. "He is no longer on dialysis. But there are concerns because Lamar has been asking for copious amounts of pain medication, including Oxycontin."

The development leaves doctors in a tough spot. Odom's pain has to be treated, but hospital officials are cautious of the patient's history of drug and substance abuse.

"They are trying to give him other pain medications that aren't as powerful," a source added. "However, Lamar complains that it's not strong enough."

Word is estranged wife Khloé Kardashian has grown increasingly "disgusted" with the two-time NBA champion's continued requests for strong pain meds.

"Khloe hasn't been at the hospital this week," a source added. "She is keeping her distance, but checks in with Lamar's doctors."

Reports are Odom also recently called one of his old drug dealer pals to visit him at the hospital, leaving Kardashian even more heartbroken that he would again stoop to such levels.

"Lamar tried to deny it, but Khloé has heard it all before ... and she knew he was lying," a source said.

Though security quickly got wind of what was happening and promptly ushered the man away, word is he had enough time to voice his anger to Kardashian over changing the locks to Odom's LA loft.

More recently, Kardashian has been seen visiting NBA boyfriend James Harden, fueling rumors that they two may still be hooking up, even though earlier this month she and Odom officially called off their pending divorce.
