Super Smash Bros. 4, also known as the sequel of the Super Smash Bros. franchise for the 3DS and Wii U consoles, is coming out sometime in 2014. This was previously announced by Nintendo, the creator of the game, although so far there are no exact details or final release date announced for the game. For now, the only thing we know for certain is that there are new characters that are set to join the 21 returning cast members. There will also be some minor changes on how the game will be played, but the style will be more or less like the previous versions.

Ledge-grab mechanics is one of the changes that is expected for the next release. It is not yet clear how these changes will affect the metagame and the competitive environment, but according to the lead developer of the game, Masahiro Sakurai, the changes made for attack and defense choices in grabbing ledges are significant. Grab controls will now be unaffected whether the played is below or above 100 percent damage. The accumulated damage and air time will also have an effect on the invincibility period while still hanging on to an edge.

Sakurai also leaked that there would be an additional Capcom character included in the game. The only problem with this idea is that the characters are from a completely different universe and they have to fit in with the characters from the Nintendo lineup. Regardless, a lot of players who have followed the previous versions will be eager to try out the new game.
