Soon to be released on the Disney Channel this year is the sequel to the Boy Meets World sitcom. The upcoming sequel will be called Girl Meets World.

The spin-off comedy series will take on many of the same delightful, funny and warm experiences featured on its forerunner show Boy Meets World, one of the more successful sitcoms of the '90s. This time, however, the main character will be a teenage girl instead of a boy. The big surprise here is that the main character of Boy Meets World returns as the Girl Meets World protagonist's father.

The 7th grade girl, Riley, is portrayed as a brilliant and inquisitive student. Riley, along with Maya (her smart friend), plan to have a memorable experience in middle school. However, Riley's dad, played by Ben Savage, happens to be a member of the faculty and will be watching them closely, so the girl's plan of having a happy-go-lucky year will have to be modified or else ruined. Riley's father is also their History teacher, meaning they have to see him in class. Adding to the comedy mix is the hip, after-school joint owned by Riley's mother, whose specialty is pudding.

The Cast of Girl Meets World

  • Rowan Blanchard plays the role of Riley Matthews, a 12-year-old 7th grade student
  • Sabrina Carpenter is Riley's best friend named Maya
  • Ben Savage is Cory Matthews, Riley's father (He played Cory Matthews on Boy Meets World). He is a middle school History teacher and is assigned to a class that includes his daughter and her friends.
  • Danielle Fishel plays the role of Topanga Matthews, Riley's mother. In the final episode of Boy Meets World, she was taking a law internship. She changed her career choice, however, to being an entrepreneur. She now owns a restaurant which specializes in pudding. Her restaurant has become the middle school students' hangout.
