The comedic horror of "Ash vs Evil Dead" finally premiered on Starz with some excellent scenes, proving the franchise is back in all of its wit and gore.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the show opened on Ash (Bruce Campbell) putting on his girdle for a night out, obviously preparing to pick up a date. After he arrived at the bar and successfully seduced the first woman he sees, a bathroom sex scene was interrupted when the woman turns into a Deadite zombie, though her undead shift did not stop him from finishing.

The encounter did give him a flashback to a scene several nights earlier, when he seduced another woman in his trailer with a "poem" from the Necronomicon. That was apparently all it took to release the Deadite plague back into the world.

Coming back to the present after Ash's bathroom escapade, viewers met local cop Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) and her partner Carson (Mike Edward) as they investigated a call about woman screaming inside a house. The pair found a Deadite, which kills Carson. He then turned on Fisher as a Deadite himself, but she immediately kills him again.

When Fisher hunkered down at a diner over a cup of coffee, she met Ruby (Lucy Lawless), who sympathized with the beleaguered cop, "giving her permission" to believe what she saw in that house.

Meanwhile, oblivious to what went down with Fisher, Ash was packing up and preparing to leave town. However, he was denied his final paycheck, and must finish his work with pal Pablo (Ray Santiago) and new girl Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo), who turned down Ash's attempts at seduction. The trio ended up back at Ash's trailer for another round with the Deadites.

This raucous first episode set the stage for an entire season full of Deadite hunting and staying alive with Ash's new gang.
