'Heroes Reborn' Season 1, Episode 8 Spoilers: Greg Grunberg's Matt Parkman to Return in Next Episode [Watch]
The teaser for Thursday's episode of "Heroes Reborn" has hit the net, and it promises the return of another regular from the first series: Matt Parkman played by Greg Grunberg.
Parkman, the telepathic cop from the original series, makes an appearance in the trailer for the episode entitled "June 13th - Part 2," and is seen reuniting with Noah Bennett (Jack Coleman).
While it's unknown what role Matt will play in the upcoming episode, it's likely to have a connection with present day Noah's memory loss.
Last week, the show dropped a major twist when it revealed that future Noah sent his deceased daughter's twin children back into the past to protect them from Renautas CEO Erica Kravid (Rya Kihlstedt).
"We have to keep Claire's children safe at all costs," Noah said to his past self.
Given Noah didn't remember any of these events until now, it's possible that he had Matt alter his mind so that he wouldn't create a time paradox. Another possibility is Erica had Matt do the job so that Noah wouldn't squeal on her involvement behind the deadly explosion.
Why would former good guy Matt work for a villain like Erica? Who knows. But an interview with Grunberg at Blastr proves the theory has merit.
"I am evil," Grunberg said. "I can't believe I am doing the things I'm doing. We did the episode '5 Years Gone' back then, and Matt was crazy cool. But we didn't delve into the why, and now it's still five years down the line and they have me doing some things that are so cool. And they justify it all in a cool way."
Grunberg went on to say Matt is working for the "highest bidder" in order to protect his family.
If Matt is working for Erica, then it's possible he is the force keeping all the evos prisoner at Sunstone Manor. Captain Dearing (Dylan Bruce) told Carlos Gutierrez (Ryan Guzman) that there were no guards or fences at the facility, but once inside people didn't want to leave.
"Heroes Reborn" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Watch the preview below!
