Wrestling News: Rob Van Dam Interested in Returning to World Wrestling Entertainment?
Former WWE and ECW champion Rob Van Dam held a Q&A on his Periscope account and was asked if he was interested in returning to WWE. RVD said that he would like to return but not during WrestleMania season.
He pointed out that WrestleMania season is the worst time to travel because of the weather, per Wrestling Inc. He added that he hated doing it in winter and would have to be on television during his run.
RVD also said that he would rather stay at home in either Los Angeles or Las Vegas and return during the summer, just like his last run with the WWE. The 44-year-old made his return to WWE last July 2013 after a six-year absence.
The master of the Five-Star Frog Splash participated at the 2013 Money in the Bank pay-per-view against Daniel Bryan, Christian, Randy Orton, CM Punk and Sheamus in a Money in the Bank Ladder match for a future shot at the WWE Championship. He eventually lost with Orton winning the briefcase.
Van Dam went on to challenge Dean Ambrose for the U.S. title at SummerSlam 2013 but was not able to win the title due to the interference of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. He aligned himself with Ricardo Rodriguez to start his feud against Alberto Del Rio.
He defeated Del Rio at Night of Champions via a disqualification, so he was not able to win the World Heavyweight championship. RVD got his rematch at Battleground in Hardcore Match but was defeated by Del Rio.
Van Dam went on to have his hiatus and miss the rest of 2013 as well as the road to WrestleMania 30. He returned to WWE again and was challenged for the Intercontinental champion. RVD finished his run with the company in an appearance at the 2014 Slammy Awards to give the winner of the Extreme Moment of the Year.
Currently, Van Dam is doing a movie called "Captive" starring Steven Seagal, per City on Fire. He added on his Periscope Q&A that he has been receiving a lot of movie offers every day, but he's not interested in doing reality shows. After finishing "Captive," he has four more movies to film.
He added that he would not wrestle for ROH and TNA, and would return to WWE if the deal is right. According to his WWE Profile, Rob Van Dam is also a former six-time Intercontinental champion, four-time Hardcore champion and a three-time Tag Team champion.
