Coldplay's Chris Martin will help aspiring talent on NBC's The Voice by providing guidance and essentially musical 'parachutes,' so the contestants can land safely on their feet -- and not on their faces throughout the singing competition.

The British front man for the seven-time Grammy Award-winning band Coldplay, who is also the husband of actress Gwyneth Paltrow, joined The Voice to help coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton with their selected contestants.

Reportedly a fan of reality, singing competitions, Martin, who also appeared on The X-Factor in 2011, will be listening to and advising the contestants as the show makes its way into the second phase of the Battles Round.

To gain further reach to the show's younger demographic, The Voice made the announcement via Snapchat, a hugely popular app, after the show on Tuesday night. In addition, the show's producers also revealed footage of the singer via Snapchat after the East Coast broadcast," The Daily Mail reports.

"He's such an authentic voice in the industry. We could not be happier," said Executive Producer Mark Burnett. "There's a massive level of respect from the singers and the surprise from them (when they met him) 'Whoa! Chris Martin. Wow!'"

During the the first Battles Round of the The Voice, each coach was assisted by an individual mentor to help them prep their teams ahead of the studio competition.

Adam Levine teamed up with Aloe Blacc; Blake Shelton with The Band Perry; Shakira with Miranda Lambert, (Shelton's wife); and Usher with Jill Scott.

Martin will reportedly appear on the show on March 31 when each team will be narrowed down to three contestants on each. He will return to the show on April 1 and 7.

The timing is also right for the Coldplay singer whose band will be releasing a new ablum called Ghost Stories on May 19.

Besides Martin's presence on the show, Shakira's return to The Voice also made a big splash. With a noticeable, newfound confidence and a spunkier attitude, the Colombian superstar is proving that she is a stronger presence for the sixth season of the show.

Shakira's career has been on fire lately. The winner of the Sexiest Curves Award by Victoria Secret, latest, sexy video, "Can't Remember to Forget You," shows off her hard-earned, post-baby body, pushing the envelope and frolicking alongside fellow sexy siren, Rihanna.

Not only did Shakira's video gain worldwide attention online, but she unintentionally sparked controversy from a Colombian politician who accused her of promoting lesbianism or the moral decay. Or maybe it's her blossoming relationship with her professional soccer player boyfriend and their adorable child -the couple has also made the list for Forbes Most Powerful Couples in 2013.

"We quickly saw when we shot the blinds for season 6 that these guys, it was their second time around," said The Voice host, Carson Daly. "She's got this confidence about her now, she's hungry for a victory and she handles the boys really well. Reminds me of season two with Christina in that way too -- first year is all pleasantries, we all know each other, second year was just, I want to win, and I'll fight you for it. There's good fiery energy."
