'Kung Fu Panda 3' Trailer: Po Trains Pandas in Secret Village To Prepare for Showdown with Villain 'Kai' [Watch]
One of the most successful animated franchises in the world is set to comeback with a lot of humor, fatherly love and, not to mention, more pandas and action-packed scenes.
DreamWorks animation's third sequel of "Kung Fu Panda" aired its second trailer and it featured the plump-bodied panda, Po, who just learned how to act both as a warrior and a teacher. Although Po (Black Jack) is not good at instructing, he takes on the challenge and trains little pandas, as his father takes him to the secret panda village located in the mountains.
According to Screen Rant, the animation film will focus on Po's reconnected relationship with his biological father and panda dad, Li Shan (Bryan Crantson), who has been separated from his wife and son after Lord Shen and his wolves attacked his home village. Li Shan reemerges in the movie, and brings his son into his current village residence.
There in the village, Po discovers multitudes of fellow species, girl and boy pandas, mom and dad pandas, including a grandma panda who Po thinks looks like him, only that she is old. Po then took the mission to train fellow pandas in anticipation of his battle against his formidable supernatural enemy, Kai (J.K. Simmons), as the villain threatens to overcome China's entirety.
Comparing previous villains that Po fought in the past "Kung Fu Panda" movies, the film's co-director, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, told Entertainment Weekly that Kai is a "villain that Po is completely ill-equipped to face," adding that they have to find a new kind of villain.
"You can't go brawler because Tai Lung was brawler. You can't go smarter because Shen was smarter. Where can you go? You have to go supernatural, bigger, and even more intimidating."
This has shaped the story of Po plucking some of his fellow pandas to prepare and fight against the hard-to-beat foe. In the anticipated battle scene, Po battles against the supernatural bull and endures the fight with his panda pack, who eventually learned how to be Kung Fu warriors.
While Po had his Kung Fu panda squad backed up, his friends are also there to help him during his battle against Kai. Master Shifu together with the Furious Five Warriors, Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Viper (Lucy Liu), Crane (David Cross) and Mantis (Seth Rogen) also engaged in the battle.
"That dynamic of a new villain, new energy, and new abilities that challenge Po is what makes it interesting for us-and makes for some cool fight scenes," Nelson added.
After several release cancellations, "Kung Fu Panda 3" will hit theaters on Jan. 29.
