‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ News: Alanis Morissette, Meghan Trainor Team With Fallon to Cover ‘Ironic’ by Clucking [Watch]
There have been a lot of strange skits on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon," but this will be the first time he and his musical guests have "clucked" the lyrics to a famous song by Alanis Morissette.
According to Rolling Stone, Fallon brought out his makeshift band called "Jagged Little Chicks" and started singing the song "Ironic" by clucking like chickens.
The four singers were all blacked out in the beginning, and as the lights started to come on for them, it revealed Fallon was joined in the band by singers Meghan Trainor and Morissette herself.
Although Morissette did seem a little self-conscious about the skit in the beginning, the fabulous foursome clucked out the song with perfect harmony that mirrored the original lyrics of the song.
During the performance, they were all dressed as chickens, and Fallon seemed to be playing along with his guitar. Trainor had what appeared to be a bass guitar and also synced up her movements to the song's music.
But in the end, it was Morissette who took the top honors with humility, showing that she can join the conversation and poke a little fun at herself in a playful and comical manner.
The performance also paid tribute to Morissette's infamous record from the '90s, "Jagged Little Pill." According to Time, the album is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of its release.
The song choice was quite reminiscent of the vibe at the time, with "Ironic" being considered by most to be a staple type of song that inherently defined the '90s era that bridged the grunge and rock scene at the time.
In the end, Morissette performed throughout the skit alongside her famous co-stars and made a few people reminisce with laughter and nostalgia.
