'Spectre' Star Batista to Make a Comeback to World Wrestling Entertainment?
Former WWE Superstar and actor Batista, now known as Dave Bautista, was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet of WSVN-TV in Miami to promote his new movie "Spectre." They talked about his latest run with the WWE and if he would consider making a comeback inside the wrestling ring.
"I was just constantly butting heads with them. I didn't want to go back as a babyface. I said it's not going to work. I'm the worst babyface ever. I'm comfortable being a heel and the fans want me to be a heel. They tried to shove me down everybody's throats and they rebelled," Batista said as quoted by Still Real To Us.
The 46-year-old actor returned to the WWE in January of last year after a four-year absence. The former WWE World champion was well-received by fans, but that changed after he won the 2014 Royal Rumble match.
He was set to face Randy Orton for the WWE title at the main event of WrestleMania 30, but the fans turned on him, which forced the WWE to add Daniel Bryan in the main event. After a short reunion with Orton and Triple H to form Evolution, he left the company to promote his movie "The Guardians of the Galaxy" that became a big hit, per Inquisitr.
His breakout performance in that movie helped Batista land his role in the new James Bond movie "Spectre." In terms of another run with the WWE, he would want the same deal that Chris Jericho has.
"At the end of the day I love WWE. If they would allow me to go back and just do house shows I'd be all over it. Because then you just skip all of the red tape and you don't have to deal with the writers and all that [expletive]. And my thing is wrestling. Wrestlers. Audience. Ring. That's all I want," Batista said.
In his official WWE Profile, Batista is a six-time WWE World champion, four-time Tag Team champion, and a two-time Royal Rumble winner. He also has a professional MMA record of 1-0 when he defeated Vince Lucero via knockout at "CES MMA: Real Pain" last October 2012, per Sherdog.
The former wrestler found his place in Hollywood due to the success of "The Guardians of Galaxy," and he is set to star in a few movies including "Heist" with Robert De Niro, "Kickboxer: Vengeance" with Jean-Claude Van Damme, and "Marauders" with Bruce Willis, per Wrestling News World.
