March Madness 2014 Brackets & Scores: Obama Predicts Michigan State to Win the NCAA Tournament
President Barack Obama has always been an avid basketball fan and the US head of state has just revealed his top prediction for the NCCA college basketball tournament champion.
Taking a break from talking about foreign politics and the economy, according to The Guardian, the US President has picked Michigan State and Louisville to compete in the final four with Michigan State bringing home the trophy. In the annual prediction with ESPN referred to as "Barack-etology" spanning six years, the President's top four include Michigan State, Arizona, Florida and Louisville.
Obama sat down with ESPN's Andy Katz and says: "Tom Izzo is a great tournament coach. I've got Michigan State going all the way. He knows how to motivate folks and he knows how to coach. My pick: Michigan State. Bring it home for me. It's been a while since I've won my pool."
Anyone who's curious can check out the President's complete bracket here.
"I know these are not imaginative picks, but I think they're the right ones," Obama told Katz following the big reveal of his Final Four picks.
MSNBC cites that the President's NCAA predictions attract a whole lot of attention with the blog post on the President's 2013 bracket garnering more hits than anything else that has been posted by the White House last year. This year, the White House has learned, recognizing the hype, the picks were posted alongside the "16 Sweetest Reasons to Get Covered," a match-up of reasons to sign up for health insurance in the final weeks of the Affordable Care Act's open enrollment period.
While Obama's track record on predictions hasn't always been right, he did correctly pick the winner in 2009 being the North Carolina Tar Heels. In last year's pool, of the 8.15 million entries tracked by ESPN, Obama was ranked 2,080,996 landing him in the 74.4th percentile.
Now that the President has gone public with his bracket, let's see how well others fare against his March Madness pool.
