Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is close to a decision if he will make his comeback inside the Octagon. GSP's boxing trainer Freddie Roach told Fight Hub TV that the 34-year-old mixed martial artist is planning on having training camp to determine if he feels ready to fight again.

"He's going to train for a fight. He's going to have a six-week training camp and at the end of the six weeks if he feels like he's ready to fight and he's hungry for it like he always has been, he's going to do it. He's going to fight one more time," Roach said as quoted by Sports Net.

"If he doesn't feel it and he feels like it's just not there, he's going to let it go and he's going to officially retire. I think it's a really good idea. I think it's really, really smart to do that, to see where he's at in his mind," he added.

St-Pierre has trained for the past years at Roach's Wild Card Gym at Los Angeles, Calif., where other boxing greats like Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto trains. It has been almost two years since GSP fought inside the octagon when he defeated Johny Hendricks via a controversial split decision at UFC 167.

He officially announced that he was "stepping away" from MMA and he vacated the welterweight belt last December 2013, per MMA Junkie. In a report by FOX Sports, UFC president Dana White was very supportive of his decision and has hinted that GSP would never come back and fight again.

White said in a Q&A in Australia that "Rush" is living the life as he has made a ton of money, even hinting that "Rush" has completely retired from MMA. However, the Montreal native told local media outlet Reseau de Sports last month that that he is starting to feel the itch to make a comeback.

"I'm starting to get the feeling, more and more, to come back," GSP said in French as translated by MMA Fighting. He said that he keeps watching fights in the UFC welterweight division and has started training again since he recovered from a torn ACL last year.

According to Fighting Matrix All-Time Rankings, St-Pierre is statistically the greatest UFC welterweight champion of all time and possibly the greatest MMA fighter ever. He has a record of 25 wins with only two losses, eight of those wins came by knockout and five via submission, per Sherdog.
