Mariah Carey, James Packer Update: Singer Rethinks Relationship After Disastrous China Trip?
Mariah Carey and James Packer are rumored to have hit a speed bump in their whirlwind relationship, after a recent trip to China went awry.
Radar Online reports the 45-year-old "Hero" singer and the billionaire Australian businessman have just returned from the trip, which rated as a "complete disaster."
"James seemed to feel that, because he is an investor in the casino, he could call the shots," a source said of the scene that played out during Carey's Oct. 27 gig while the two were abroad. "He was barking orders at Mariah like he was her master. Anyone who knows Mariah knows that she does not take kindly to being told what to do!"
That development reportedly has caused the diva songstress to rethink things with her knight in shining armor. The two began dating over the summer, at one point embarking on a yacht cruise across the Mediterranean footed by Packer.
"It doesn't matter how much money he has, because it's not like she is in need of his cash," a source said. "She really felt like she was falling head-over-heels in love with him and now she is just not sure. He did a real good job at buttering her up and making her feel like a princess, but this China trip was a total turning point in the relationship."
Carey and soon-to-be ex-husband Nick Cannon pulled the plug on their six-year relationship earlier this year, with Cannon formally filing for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
Soon after that, attorneys for Carey forced him into signing an agreement preventing him from talking about their relationship under threat of forfeiting any assets from the union he might otherwise be entitled to.
Since the couple's split, Cannon has been romantically linked to Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White, hip-hop model Amber Rose and Eddie Murphy's ex-wife Nicole Murphy.
