David Price is one of the best pitchers available in the 2016 MLB Free Agency. According to Ken Rosenthal and Buster Olney of ESPN Insider, the Chicago Cubs have the best chance in signing the 2012 AL Cy Young winner.

In a report by FOX Sports, two agents are predicting that Price will indeed sign with the Cubs. An executive, who knows the left pitcher personally, said that the Cubs are Price's first choice, with the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox also having chances.

During the 2014 All-Star Game, the 30-year-old told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch via CSN Chicago that winning the World Series with the Cubs would be the best celebration to have after 100 plus years of suffering by Chicago fans. "Winning absolutely is something you want to do. Being a part of something special is also something you want to do. You can take that to a first-place team. You could take that all the way to a last-place team like the Cubs," Price said.

"With the talent, they have come up they could be a very special team in a few years as well. That would probably be the coolest city to win a championship in. They haven't done it in I'm not sure how long. To do that there that would be the coolest city to win a championship in right now," he added.

The Cubs got swept in the National League Championship Series by the New York Mets and the starting pitching is the main priority by the front office. President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer have told ESPN that they are looking to add multiple starting pitchers in the offseason.

The report notes that Epstein and Hoyer will probably want Price and have other options available like signing another starter or trading for one. Andrew Cashner, Johnny Cueto, Zack Greinke, Tyson Ross, Jeff Samardzija, Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmerman are among the arms available in the market via free agency or trade.

According to Fan Graphs, Price is projected to receive a seven-year, $215 million contract that is very similar to the deal that the Washington National gave to Max Scherzer last season. He is coming to free agency with a great regular season record and bad playoff resume, having a career record of 104-56 with a 3.09 ERA and 1,372 strikeouts in the regular season. His post-season resume looks very bad and sits at a 2-7 record with a 5.12 ERA, per Baseball-Reference.com.
