NHL 16 received an update that will improve gameplay, add new jerseys and enhance the visuals of the game. EA Sports announced the update on Friday.

The latest NHL video game from EA Sports is receiving an update that will help the game make some needed improvements, EA Sports announced.

The first improvement made to NHL 16 is for the EA Sports Hockey League (EASHL). Club Challenges have been added to the EASHL mode. With these challenges, players can search for an opponent from the Club Challenge dressing room.

To keep things fair in EASHL mode, when a player drops out of an online game in which they were controlling the goalie, the AI (computer-controlled) replacement goalie will have his attributes lowered to make up for the player leaving. Addittionally, goalies can now be controlled by players in shootout and penalty shot situations for online, versus and Hockey Ultimate Team mode.

All online modes will see their periods shortened to four minutes instead of five minutes.

There have been some various improvements for gameplay including pokechecks, passing, goalie skills, puck physics and player awareness.

In the Be A Pro mode, players will have a higher chance of being drafted into the NHL if they start out in the CHL. The mode will also allow players to switch between classic and authentic styles after going into Be A Pro mode.

There have been several improvements made for the On-Ice Trainer mode.

In the Be a GM mode, players will not have to attend as many meetings during the season, allowing the mode to move along a little faster.

There have been several third jerseys added to the game as well as center ice graphic updates:

• Added the New York Islanders 3rd Jersey.

• Added the Frolunda Indians Home and Away Jerseys.

• Added the Providence Bruins 3rd Jersey.

• Added the Nashville Predators Golden Alternate Jersey.

• Added the Hersey Bears 3rd Jersey.

• Added the Moncton Wildcats 3rd Jersey.

• Added the Texas Stars Home and Away Jerseys.

• Added the Wilkes-Barre Penguins 3rd Jersey
