HTC One X9 Specs & Release Date: New Leaked Details Show X9 as a Mid-Range Device
With so many details on the HTC One X9 - not to mention all of the other handsets in the company's collection - it can be confusing for consumers to determine which ones are accurate and which ones are less so. New word from some of the industry's more reliable tipsters reveal more about the upcoming HTC smartphone, refuting earlier leaks that pointed to a high-end device.
According to a report from GSM Arena, well-known leaksters @LlabTooFeR and @evleaks spoke out to say the early reports on the suddenly hyped HTC One X9 were actually wrong. In fact, nearly none of the specifications reported are expected to be true of the supposedly high-end device.
The leakster @LlabTooFeR was blunt in shutting down the rumors about the HTC One X9 saying the device will NOT have the reported features including Snapdragon 820 or MediaTek Helio X20, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB to 128GB of storage space, 1440p display, 23MP rear camera or a 3500 mAh battery. The only detail that the user reported as accurate was the 4UP front camera.
In a separate tweet, @LlabTooFeR added, "HTC E56 (One X9) targeted Q1 2016 Device will be positioned lower than HTC One A9. It will be released ~2-3 months before flagship 'M10'."
A fellow leakster dubbed @evleaks goes one step further and responds to the speculation saying the initial rumors are "All wrong."
He added new details to the HTC handset saying it is expected to be powered by a MediaTek SoC. Other features the source mentioned included a 5.5-inch FHD display, 2GB/16GB memory and a 13MP rear camera to go with the 4UP front camera.
Meanwhile, more tipsters shift the spotlight to another HTC phone previously known as the HTC One M10, according to Phone Arena. Twitter user @Ricciolo spoke up about the company's upcoming device saying the name being thrown around publicly is incorrect and "not the codename of the next" HTC flagship.
Whatever it's called, this HTC creation will be powered by a new processor, the Snapdragon 820. The Qualcomm chipset is expected to give the latest slew of Android smartphones a boost with a more efficient performance, better graphics and longer battery life, among other features. The Snapdragon 820 was also launched today.
The new set of smartphones will hopefully lift the sales of HTC after the company recorded a loss of $139 million last quarter, according to a report from Fortune. Products like the HTC Grip fitness tracker have yet to be released, while others such as the HTC Re connected camera failed to up the sales, leaving HTC with profit woes this 2015.
