Fans of the long-lost but not forgotten television series Mystery Science Theater 3000 will get to enjoy a three-episode return to television on National Graphic in the not-too distant future, according to Zap 2 It.

On April 1, Nat Geo welcomes back the show's original crew featuring Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Crobett in RiffTrax. The premise is essentially the same as their 1988 series, where the trio riffed on B-list movies.

The show followed Nelson and his two robot companions Tom Servo, voiced by Murphy, and Crow T. Robot, voiced by Corbett, as the trio are captives aboard the Satellite of Love and forced to watch the worst movies in history by their mad scientist overlords.

During the films, silhouettes of the three prisoners could be seen at the bottom of the screen, as they would make fun of the movie's production value, actors and direction.

With the exception of a few brief hiatus stints, the show premiered in 1980 and would last until 1999 when the Syfy channel cancelled the series for good.

However, the show's creator Joel Hodgson and his comedic cast would find life on a distant planet called the Internet. Still following the same essential premise, Hodgson brought RiffTrax to the web where people can purchase audio tracks of Murphy, Corbett and Nelson riffing on both B-list movies and feature films, such as 300, The Avengers, the Harry Potter film series, and many more.

Little details are known so far about the National Geographic premiere of RiffTrax, the trio is expected to riff on a form television programs, according to Zap 2 It.
