Federal agents have arrested an Akron, Ohio, man for allegedly soliciting the Islamic State to murder members of the U.S. military on social media.

According to the Department of Justice, 25-year-old Terrence J. McNeil appeared in federal court in Ohio on Thursday on a charge of solicitation of a crime of violence.

A court affidavit submitted by the FBI alleges McNeil professed support for ISIS through social media on several occasions.

In September, McNeil 'reblogged' a file on Tumblr which contained several images revealing the names and addresses of U.S. military personnel.

The file also contained threatening and murderous language, calling for ISIS sympathizers to target the U.S. military in their own country.

"Now we have made it easy for you by giving you addresses, all you need to do is take the final step, so what are you waiting for?" read the file. "Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking that they are safe..."

"As this nation honors our veterans, we must make clear that we will not tolerate threats of violence against our service members," U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach.

"This defendant is charged with urging harm to our men and women in uniform and will now answer for those threats."

Authorities also claim McNeil shared support for ISIS and terrorist organizations through Twitter.

According to court documents obtained by CBS News, McNeil posted messages such as, "I can't wait for another 9/11, Boston bombing, or Sandy Hook!!!"

He also allegedly suggested, "Somebody should park a car bomb in front of a church, school, or mall."

"While we aggressively defend First Amendment rights, the individual arrested went far beyond free speech by reposting names and addresses of 100 U.S. service members, all with the intent to have them killed," Cleveland FBI special agent Stephen Anthony said.

"We will remain vigilant in our efforts to stop those who wish to support these despicable acts."
