The Nintendo Direct briefing today revealed plenty of new details of all the games in the company's impressive roster, but "Legend of Zelda" certainly deserves some time in the spotlight with its 30th anniversary coming up in 2016.

According to a report from The Verge, the remastered "Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" will be making its way to Wii U. It was originally released back in 2006, but now new players will be able to see what "Twilight Princes" is all about on the newest console.

The HD remake will reportedly come with a new Nintendo Wolf Link amiibo, as well as support other "Zelda-themed" amiibos such as Toon Link, not-Toon Link, Zelda, Sheik and Ganondorf.

The announcement was punctuated with a confirmation on the Nintendo of America Twitter account, which said, "Mark your calendars! #Zelda Twilight Princess for #WiiU and the Wolf Link #amiibo launch on 3/4!"

Aside from a revamped version of an old favorite, Nintendo gives the franchise a boost with a brand new game: "Legend of Zelda for Wii U". A report from GameSpot revealed that the fans will be able to get their hands on the game in 2016. No exact date was announced, but its schedule in 2016 means the upcoming year is set to be a big one for the "Zelda" series.

The new "Legend of Zelda for Wii U" was originally expected to land in 2015, but "new possibilities" has prompted the team to postpone the launch indefinitely, according to a separate report from GameSpot.

"As we have worked to turn these possibilities into reality, new ideas have continued to spring forth, and it now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds my own expectations," producer Eiji Aonuma said in the report. "As I have watched our development progress, I have come to think that rather than work with meeting a specific schedule as our main objective, and releasing a game that reflects only what we can create within that scheduled time, I feel strongly that our focus should be to bring all these ideas to life in a way that will make Zelda on Wii U the best game it can possibly be."

The franchise is constantly in development and one of the RPG spin-offs will be getting a DLC. "Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes" is expected to receive a free update called "The Den of Trials", according to a report from Game Zone. The update will launch an area with over 30 stages, plus two additional outfits. It will be released on Dec. 2.
