Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners itching to update their phablet with the latest Android software can now do so using a custom ROM. CyanogenMod 13 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now available, according to reports.

The Indian Talks posted the step-by-step guide on how to properly install the CM13 custom ROM on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. However, it warned the users that the custom ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow still comes with flaws and issues.

Because of this, it is vital to make a back up of all the important data and settings before installing CyanogenMod 13 custom ROM on the Galaxy Note 4. To do this, it will require the use of the TWRP recovery tool.

Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners should know that installing a custom firmware automatically voids the warranty provided for the mobile device. The sole accountability in case something undesirable happens from the unofficial installation processes such as the use of a custom ROM will go to the owner.

Meanwhile, those Galaxy Note 4 users who have already decided to install CyanogenMod 13 regardless of possible results can begin the update process by securing their copies of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow CM13 custom firmware, the GApps file and Blobs. Furthermore, make sure to save it in the root directory of either the smartphone's internal memory or its microSD card.

Check the model number of the phablet as well. Accordingly, the CM13 ROM is only compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 models SM-910F and SM-910G.

Turn off the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and boot into Recovery Mode. To do this, press the Power, Home and Volume Up buttons simultaneously.

Once the Galaxy Note 4 is in Recovery Mode, use the TWRP tool to clean Dalvik Cache, Data, Cache and System. Afterward, select install and pick the CyanogenMod 13 file previously stored on the device or memory card.

After successfully installing the custom ROM, do the same for the GApps and the Blobs tool. When done, head to Main Menu and reboot the device by choosing Reboot System.

The comprehensive specs list from GSM Arena noted that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, launched in the market on October 2014, can only be officially updated with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The 5.7-inch screen phone and tablet hybrid features a Super AMOLED touchscreen with 1440 x 2560p resolution and 551 ppi pixel density.
