There are so many new and upcoming smartphones, two of which have captured some attention -- the Huawei P9 and the Xiaomi Mi 5. New information on both handsets was recently leaked, revealing some great features that could get buyers interested upon their release.

According to a report from Gizmo China, the leak was posted on Chinese website Weibo. The Huawei P9 and Xiaomi Mi 5 share some interesting specs including a 5.2-inch display, AMOLED panels and 2k or 4k resolution. Aside from these new details, both devices are expected to be powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow and carry at least 3GB of RAM under the hood.

Despite the similarities the Huawei and Android smartphones offer, these are two different handsets with very distinct highlights. The Mi 5 is expected to sport the new Snapdragon 820 inside while the Huawei will feature its own Kirin 950 chipset.

The new chipset has been creating buzz in the industry for a while but has only been recently revealed its specs. According to a report from Android Central, this 6nm chipset is packed with four high-power ARM Cortex A72 processors at up to 2.3 GHz and another four lower-power Cortex A53 processors at 1.8GHz. The new Kirin 950 is also equipped with a Cat 6 LTE modem plus a Mali T880MP4 processor for graphics. Improvements include voice quality upgrades and longer battery life.

The latest leak was discovered on the Weibo website of Pan Jiutang, who is the head of research at the Shenzhen Huaqiang Electronics Research Institute, according to a report from Phone Arena. Jiutang has previously spoken up about the Mi 5, saying he believed the device will be launched in the tail end of the first quarter of 2016. This is due to the manufacturer waiting for the release of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset for the latest Xiaomi phone.

A previous report from Indian Express unveiled more details about the new flagship handset from the Chinese electronics company. Codenamed "Gemini," the Xiaomi Mi 5 will reportedly feature a 16-megapixel rear camera, an eight-megapixel front camera, Adreno 530 GPU and a 3,000 mAh battery. The smartphone will also be offering options of either 16GB or 64GB of internal storage, plus a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port.

Xiaomi will be staging a new phone launch event on Nov. 24 at China National Convention Center, according to Softpedia. While it has not been confirmed what model they will be unveiling at the event, the invitation shows the rear view of a Mi device, so it's possible the market will be seeing the Mi 5 earlier than expected.
