Apple Launching 4-Inch iPhone Again? Release Date Set Mid 2016?
Is Apple working on a four-inch iPhone again? Recent reports revealed that it may come out next year.
GForGames cited Kevin Wang, the IHS Technology Research Director in China, who revealed that an iPhone 6C which will sport a 4-inch display will be released in 2016. Wang previously shared that the 4-inch iPhone would be available this 2015 but recently changed it to a mid-2016 launch.
According to the report, this rumored release date detail about the 4-inch iPhone, which is expected to be the iPhone 6C, supports the information shared by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from KGI Securities.
Apart from the screen size, Kevin Wang did not offer any other details about Apple's new 4-inch iPhone aside but Kuo shared that this purported iOS handset will "resemble an upgraded iPhone 5s."
For those who already forgot about the iPhone 5S, the iOS smartphone was released in September 2013. It also comes with a 4-inch screen with a screen resolution of 640 x 1136 p and a pixel density of 326 ppi.
Out of the box, the iPhone 5S comes pre-installed with iOS 7. However, it is currently upgradable to iOS 9.1
Under the hood, it sports an Apple A7 chipset paired with a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 1.3 GHz. For the GPU, the phone boasts of PowerVR G6430.

As for the iPhone 6C's possible specs, Kuo mentioned that it may include a metal design and will sport an A9 processor.
"In order to make the current iOS 9 or next-generation iOS 10 run smoothly, Apple may adopt an A9 chip for this new phone," Kuo shared, as posted on MacRumors.
Moreover, Kuo believed that the rumored 4-inch iPhone 6C" will not have a 3D Touch feature, differentiating if from the current flagship devices of the Cupertino-based tech giant, the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.
As for other production details available, the rumored Apple 4-inch iPhone launching this 2016 is expected to be manufactured by Foxconn. And it is projected that there will be 20 to 30 million shipments until the end of 2016.
However, since these latest details all remain to be rumors until the iPhone maker made an official announcement about it, Apple fans are expected to take all the emerging reports with a grain of salt.
