Ronda Rousey has been medically suspended from competing in any UFC sanctioned fight for six up to months in the wake of her brutal, second-round KO bantamweight title loss to Holly Holm.

According to the New York Post, such suspensions are typically handed out by the state athletic commissions regulating the fights. The once undefeated Rousey suffered a head injury and had to be hospitalized following the bout after taking a vicious kick to the face by Holm.

Afterwards, UFC president Dana White told reporters Rousey needed to have her lip repaired after it had been "split in half."

Rousey would need to undergo and pass a head CT showing no signs of damage to have any chance of being reinstated prior to 180 days. Meantime, she is not to fight again for 60 days and is not to have contact for 45.

Rousey recently returned to the states from the Australia bout and was seen arriving at Los Angeles International Airport holding a pillow next to her face to hide her wounds.

She never spoke as a trial of reporters followed her, and members of her entourage led her to a waiting black SUV.

Since suffering her first career defeat, Rousey has garnered some support from the most unexpected of places, including from boxing champ and long-running enemy Floyd Mayweather. The widely viewed pound-for-pound champ has offered to help Rousey improve her boxing techniques and predicts she will find a way to rebound from her setback.

"Everything happens for a reason," he said.

"This was already written. Listen, if God says, 'In Floyd's career, I don't want him to lose,' you know what? I wasn't going to lose. That doesn't mean that I haven't took a loss before. I'm not talking about boxing; I'm just talking about life. In due time, she'll be able to bounce back and make some noise again in mixed martial arts."
