Iconic franchise "Baywatch" is known for its lovely female lifeguards in the classic red one-piece suits and today it has been revealed that another name can be added to the roster. The film reboot just picked up its leading lady: Alexandra Daddario.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, it was Daddario's "San Andreas" co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who let it slip that the dark-haired beauty will be joining the "Baywatch" cast. The action star posted a congratulatory photo and message on his Instagram account, welcoming his film daughter to the upcoming project.

"IT'S OFFICIAL: Want to welcome the talented and gorgeous @alexannadaddario to the cast of #BAYWATCH for the role of "Summer". Alex is a one of kind woman (I know from experience) and can't wait for you guys to see her own the role. The female roles of #BAYWATCH have become extremely hot properties around Hollywood and as promised, the quality women we'll cast are stepping into these roles to have fun and make them iconic for the world to enjoy," said Johnson on Instagram.

The "Percy Jackson" star responded to Johnson's message on Twitter saying, "Thank you! Extremely excited. Been practicing my slow-mo run all morning."

A previous report from Deadline listed the actresses who were being considered for a role in "Baywatch" a few weeks ago, which included Daddario and other stars such as Ashley Benson from "Pretty Little Liars," Nina Dobrev from "Vampire Diaries," Alexandra Shipp from "Straight Outta Compton," Shelley Hennig from "Teen Wolf" and more.

While Daddario has been the only one confirmed from the list, the film is set to add more names to the list.

On his Instagram post, Johnson added, "The #BaywatchFamily so far consists of a tatted up bald guy named Rock, the cool, yet extremely unattractive @zacefron, the talented and gorgeous Alexandra Daddario... and some big casting announcements coming soon. And juuuuust wait til you guys see who we cast for the iconic role of 'CJ Parker.'"

Director Seth Gordon will helm the film while Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman are producing. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift penned the latest draft of the screenplay for "Baywatch."

According to a report from Venture Capital Post last month, the story of the reboot revolves around two lifeguards played by Johnson and Zac Efron. The partners will be on a mission to save the beach from an oil mogul.

Some stars of the original series are also rumored to be up for roles in the film including David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
