Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Update: TeamUB Custom ROM Based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Now Available
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini can now be updated with the latest Android Lollipop version available via a custom ROM. Team Android provides a comprehensive guide on how to install the TeamUB firmware for the smartphone.
According to the post, the TeamUB ROM based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is a stable firmware, offering a fast and smooth performance for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. Aside from the usual Android 5.1.1 Lollipop goodies, S4 Mini users interested to install the custom ROM will also find other features, and most of them are related to visual customization.
Another essential feature available on the TeamUB custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is the OTA updates, as cited by Team Android. Accordingly, with this feature, users will not have to flash the ROM each time a new build arrive for the smartphone.
The GSM Arena's specs list for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini noted that the Android smartphone, which became available in the market on July 2014, comes pre-installed with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Currently, S4 Mini users can only officially upgrade their smartphone with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS.
However, with the presence of TeamUB custom ROM, Galaxy S4 Mini users can now opt to experience the Android Lollipop firmware. But it should be noted that there are several requirements to satisfy first to ensure a proper installation process.
First, the battery level should be at least 80 percent to prevent any possible interruptions during the process. Another step is to create a backup for all the important files and settings stored on the device.
To do so, experts recommend utilizing effective recovery tools such as ClockWorkMod and the TWRP. Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini users should note that installing a custom firmware such as the TeamUB Android 5.1.1 Lollipop can wipe the entire memory of the smartphone, thus a need for a proper backup.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was released on July 2013. It has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and 256 ppi pixel density, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
