Forget tipping the delivery man, one day in the not so distant future you may be reaching into your back pocket to tip the delivery drone. The Domino's pizza chain has released a video detailing the delivery of a pizza via a very small helicopter.

The video, which was uploaded to YouTube on Monday, instantly became a hit on the website and has garnered over 300,000 views in only two days. Domino's called its flying invention the DomiCopter, and tested out its potential in a neighborhood in the United Kingdom.

"The DomiCopter is a project we worked on with Domino's Pizza, AeroSight, a UK-based drone specialist and [marketing agency] Big Communications," creative firm T + Biscuits said in a blog post revealing the DomiCopter. "We were looking at innovative ways to deliver pizza and thought, 'what is cooler than a flying pizza?'"

Now, before you get all excited and order a couple of large pizzas for airborne delivery, there's something you should know: you can't. The service is not offered my Domino's anywhere yet and may not be for quite some time.

That is especially true in the United States, where it would actually be illegal for the company to employ such a delivery method. Due to Federal Aviation Administration regulations, no drone or drone-like device may be used for commercial purposes.

"The Domino's team in the U.K. [like that in the United States] is constantly looking for innovative ways to build on our reputation for delivery expertise," said Domino's U.S. spokesman Tim McIntyre. "This is certainly an innovative idea, but we don't know if it will 'fly' here in the U.S."

Despite this, Domino's has already stated that it has been inundated by requests from people all over the globe to get their pizza delivered by drone. So far, however, the video has been called nothing more than a publicity stunt, with the company saying that if you want the DomiCopter to deliver your next pizza, "you will have to just wait and see ... and then wait."
