Huawei Mate 8 Images Leak Online, New Phablet Scored 79,000 on AnTuTu Listing
Huawei has had its ups and downs, but the brand continues to deliver new devices including the much-awaited Huawei Mate 8. New details drop on the phablet as the release date nears, painting a picture of a device that seems like it could be packing more than initially believed.
According to a report from GSM Arena, the latest images were leaked on the Twitter account @OnLeaks. The caption also revealed the size of the upcoming smartphone at "roughly 157.4 x 80.7 x 8.4 mm."
There has been speculation that this Huawei Mate 8 will come in two variants with differing displays. The first one will reportedly sport a 1440p screen, while the other will be slightly lower with a 1080p display. However, other features will likely be identical including a 20.7-megapixel main snapper, a 4,100mAh battery and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Storage includes 3GB or 4GB of RAM as well as the option of 32GB or 128GB of internal storage. Micro-SD card expansion is also provided.
According to a report from Android Headlines another leak on the AnTuTu benchmarking website revealed more specs of the 6-inch Huawei Mate 8, including a very impressive total score of 79,131 points on the website. This leak also points to the HiSilicon Kirin 950 powering the new Huawei smartphone. It will reportedly be equipped with an octa-core 64-bit chip clocking a maximum of 2.3 GHz and a Mali-T880MP4 graphics processor at 900 MHz at max.
Some of the details on this recent AnTuTu leak contradict previous reports including storage options of 32GB or 64GB and a 16-megapixel camera at the back of the device.
The Huawei Mate 8 is expected to be launched on Thursday, Nov. 26.
In the smartphone industry, it's difficult to predict which handsets will be a winner or a bust. According to a recent report from Phone Arena, the latest data from Gartner revealed that Huawei was a big winner in the global smartphone market, grabbing 7.7 percent of the market share in the third quarter of 2015. This is up 2.5 percent from last year's third quarter share, an impressive feat that gives them the biggest jump in sales among the companies. They were able to sell 27.3 million units from July to September, a 71 percent improvement from last year's 16 million.
While the total figures put Huawei behind giants Samsung and Apple, both top-ranking companies actually marked losses in the market share from last year's third quarter numbers.
