Apple updated the iPhone 6 this September to the iPhone 6s, but to the casual observer it looks exactly the same. There are several improvements that were made to the iPhone 6s.

The biggest changes made to the iPhone 6s from the iPhone 6 are the new 3D Touch technology, improved materials used on the body and an updated camera, Trusted Reviews reports.

Design

The iPhone 6s actually gets a little thicker at 7.1mm, compared to the iPhone 6 which is 6.9mm. The iPhone 6s also gains weight at 143g, compared to the iPhone 6 which is 129g. The iPhone 6s uses the better series 7000 aluminum, while the iPhone 6 uses the series 6300 aluminum.

Screen

The screen has remained almost identical between the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s. Both phones have a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1,334 x 750 pixels, which is 326 pixels per inch. The only thing that the iPhone 6s changed in the screen is the new 3D Touch technology. With 3D Touch, the screen will detect how much pressure is put onto the screen and perform different functions.

Speed and Performance

The iPhone 6s gets a nice upgrade with the brand new A9 processor and 2 GB of RAM. The iPhone 6 has the A8 processor which runs at 1.4 GHz and is paired with 1 GB of RAM. The A9 processor runs at 1.84 GHz and is paired with 2 GB of RAM. This results in faster performance and less loading times for apps.

Camera

The iPhone 6s finally gets a camera above 8 megapixels (MP). The iPhone 6 has a nice 8 MP camera that allowed more light in for photos, but several Android phones performed better. The iPhone 6s gets the upgrade to the 12 MP camera which results in detailed pictures. The iPhone 6s is also the first iPhone to have the capability to record 4K video.

Overall

Not much has changed, but Apple says that "the only thing that has changed is everything. The camera is a nice improvement on the iPhone 6s, but the best upgrade is to the ultra-fast A9 processor. Price will be an issue too for buyers, with the iPhone 6 dropping by at least $100 when the iPhone 6s was released. The iPhone 6 can be purchased from Apple for $549, while the iPhone 6s will sell for $649 from Apple.
