‘The Walking Dead’ News: Series Getting a Ride at Theme Park [Watch]
Popular AMC zombie series "The Walking Dead" is about to be immortalized in a U.S. theme park with an all-new ride associated with the show that includes Walkers, characters and settings that have already been popularized from the show's massive success.
According to Inside The Magic, the company that has specialized in dark rides for theme parks, Sally Corp., unveiled a presentation for the new ride experience at the IAAPA Expo 2015.
The ride will be titled "The Walking Dead: Battle for Survival" and will feature many of the aspects of the show that fans have come to love. That includes a mixed media ride experience that combines live animatronic Walkers and people mixed in with special projections that are designed to scare the pants off visitors from all walks of life.
It might be similar to a haunted house experience, except there will be more dedicated, higher quality techniques used for an immersive "TWD" experience. The guests won't be walking through it either, which is why it is called a ride and not just an attraction.
As for the animatronic Walkers, the first was actually displayed at an Orlando convention.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this is nothing new to the world of theme parks and TV. There have been several TV shows and films made into rides, which was popularized when Universals started opening it first theme parks with the catch phrase "Ride the Movies."
Some other theme park ride attractions that are in the planning phase includes "The Hunger Games," "Titanic" and "Sons of Anarchy." Just recently, Universal announced a "Tonight Show With Jimmy Kimmel" ride that is about to open at its theme park.
Although the "TWD" ride is still in its early phases, there has been no theme park that has picked it up yet to feature.
Check out the video below for a sneak peek at what it could look like.
