Billboard's previous projection came into fruition as Justin Bieber's "Purpose" album crushed One Direction's "Made in the A.M." in the first week of both albums on the market.

MTV reported that the Canadian pop star is holding the recognition of having the biggest first week sales in 2015 after selling 649,000 units of his hot and widely-anticipated album, dethroning Drake's "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" album early this year. In February, Drake's album collected a total of 535,000 buys..

Laggin behind the 21-year-old singer are Simon Cowell's boys -- Niall Horan, Louis Tomlison, Harry Styles and Liam Payne -- with their fifth album, the first they have done without former 1D member Zayn Malik. The British boy band still made a decent finish with 402,000 copies sold within the first week.

As per USA Today, this current album's unit sales tops their previous one, "Four," as it garnered only 387,000 copies in its maiden week last year. However, this is the first time that the "X-Factor" borne group had a finish other than being on the no. 1 spot, as the band dominated the charts every November over the past four years. Yet, this time it will be a rather low year-ender for One Direction as they are scheduled to take a hiatus next year.

Meanwhile, Bieber's follow-up album for "Believe" is his sixth number one album to come out on Billboard 200 chart. Forbes shards that Bieber's tracks, mostly dance pop music, has been charted in the top 10. Only two of his tracks, "My World" and "My World Acoustic," did not make the cut.

Projection that Bieber can win in his comeback album was based on the success of his hit, "What Do You Mean?" as it crept to no. 1 spot a few months ago, followed not long by "Sorry." However, his second released track has been halted in its pursuit for top spo, as Adele came back swooshing the chart with her latest single from "25" album, "Hello."

Trailblazing behind One Direction included debuts from Logic, Jeezy, Chris Young, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Alessia Cara and Kirk Franklin.
