Guillermo del Toro Praises 'Gravity Falls' on Twitter
Prominent Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has revealed that he is a huge fan of the series "Gravity Falls."
The auteur director, best know for "Pan's Labryinth," sent a tweet to series creator Alex Hirsch telling him about his family's enthusiasm for the show.
"@_AlexHirsch IMO one of the best realized, most compelling series around. You are ending it at the very top of your form," wrote del Toro on Twitter.

Hirsch followed that message up with one of his own, thanking the filmmaker for his high praise. In return, del Toro heaped even more praise, letting Hirsch and his crew know that he was not the only one fascinated by the series. "@_AlexHirsch My whole household is enraptured by it," del Toro responded.

The filmmaker has been extremely active on the account since he activated it a few months ago. He uses it to bring attention to unknown works of art and literature, and he is very responsive to fans.
The high praise comes after Hirsch announced that the series would be coming to an end after Season 2.
"It's being finished. This is 100% my choice, and it[']s something I decided on a very long time ago," Hirsch stated regarding his choice to end the series. "I always designed Gravity Falls to be a finite series about one epic summer- a series with a beginning, middle, and end. There are so many shows that go on endlessly until they lose their original spark, or mysteries that are cancelled before they ever get a chance to payoff."
"Gravity Falls" is an animated series that follows Dipper Pines and his twin sister Mabel during their summer vacation in the fictional town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. The two find that the town is rather odd, with a lot of supernatural events taking place. The siblings eventually set out to unlock the town's many mysteries.
The show premiered on Disney Channel in 2012, and the second season premiered on Disney Channel and Disney XD in August 2014.
Del Toro recently directed "Crimson Peak" and has also directed such films as "Pacific Rim" and the two "Hellboy" movies.
