The Seattle Mariners had a very disappointing 2015 season, finishing with a 76-86 record and the third fewest runs scored in the American League. The Mariners ownership has cleaned house in the front office and coaching staff, with superstar second baseman Robinson Cano may be going next.

According to John Harper of The New York Daily News, Cano is reportedly unhappy in Seattle due to the changes in the front office and wants to return to the New York Yankees. The second baseman is entering the third year of the 10-year, $240 million deal he signed with Seattle in 2013.

Cano has not lived up to the huge contract with his mediocre production the past two seasons but has remained one of the best at his position in the major leagues. Former Mariners hitting and first base coach Andy Van Slyke recently appeared on "The Hollywood Casino Press Box" radio show on 920 AM in St. Louis and ripped the 32-year-old second baseman.

"The hitting coach got fired because of Cano. And the manager and the coaches got fired because of Cano. That's how much impact he has on the organization. He was the worst player and it cost people their jobs in the process," Van Slyke said.

Former Seattle third base coach Rich Donnelly came to the defense of Cano, saying that the player was injured for most of the season but played hard as long as he can. "I used to get upset when I'd hear people say Robbie didn't hustle. I'd say, 'Hell, he shouldn't even be in the lineup.' Robbie would always tell everybody, 'I'm fine, I'm fine,'" Donnelly insisted.

However, ESPN reports that the Yankees don't want Cano back and that they have moved on from him after turning down a seven-year, $175 million contract from them. If ever there is a trade that has the possibility to work, it will be involving outfield Jacoby Ellsbury going to Seattle, but both players have no-trade clauses.

It is also noted that the Dominican-American player is looking to buy a home a house in Seattle, an indication that he is settling in the Pacific Northwest. Even Jerry Dipoto, the new Mariners general manager, told the media on Monday afternoon that Cano is happy in Seattle and is recovering from sports hernia surgery, per NJ Advance Media.

The player also posted a video on Twitter showing his offseason workout, tagging the Mariners.
