'Futurama: Release the Drones' for iOS, Android Devices Coming Out, Check Details Here
Sci-fi cartoon series "Futurama" is coming back and it is going to land on your mobile phones.
Wooga Blog revealed that they are collaborating with Fox Digital Entertainment in creating a brand new "Futurama" game for the mobile platform. "Futurama: Game of Drones" will travel with the Planet Express crew in fighting their enemy, MomCo. The game is written by Dave Grossman ("Secret of the Monkey Island," "Wolf Among Us") and Jonathan Myers ("Game of Thrones: Ascent"). Patric Verrone, a member of the original writers of "Futurama," will also be part of the game production.
"Futurama: Release the Drones" is a war between shipping rivals, where MomCo will be Planet Express' nemesis. Players will be challenged to deliver some hazardous cargo to different locations under the authority of some antagonists in the video game. The "Futurama" universe will feature all sorts of challenges and mysteries, where the war on shipping takes place. "Futurama: Game of Drones" takes players on a journey with the Planet Express crew as they fight a desperately imbalanced trade war against longtime shipping rival MomCo.
According to The Verge, in 2003, a puzzle game based on "Futurama" appeared on PlayStation 2, Xbox and Game Cube, but it was on a 3D platform, making it an instant hit on the said consoles. The Fox franchise has been delivering quality mobile games in the past and that includes "The Simpsons: Tapped Out" from EA and "Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff" from TinyCo. Both games have been in the form of free-to-play games and it won't be a surprise if "Futurama: Game of Drones" will also adapt the concept.
According to CNET, Wooga Public Relations Manager Greg Latham was able to confirm to the website the creation of "Futurama" and its availability on iOS and Android devices. The release date for the said game is still unknown as Latham did not give any official statement about it. From 1999 to 2003, "Futurama" ran on Fox before it was finally canceled. Comedy Central came to the rescue and resurrected it in 2008 while keeping it alive until 2013 before they eventually canceled it.
