Xiaomi Mi Pad 2: iPad Mini Clone For Cheap Price, Runs Windows 10
Xiaomi has created a tablet that looks just like an iPad. The Mi Pad 2 is able to run Android or Windows 10 and costs just $155.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is the second tablet from the Chinese manufacturer and Xiaomi is hoping this one will have much more success than their first tablet, CNet reports.
The Mi Pad 2 is designed to be used with Android, but it does not have to. Thanks to chip upgrade, the Mi Pad 2 has the power to run Windows 10.
The Mi Pad 2 upgraded to a quad-core Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor, a major upgrade from the Nvidia Tegra K1 chip it used in the first Mi Pad. With this processor, the Mi Pad is able to run Windows 10.
The back of the Mi Pad 2 is made of full metal, instead of plastic like the first Mi Pad. This gives the Mi Pad 2 more of a premium feel, similar to the iPad Air 2.
The Mi Pad 2 is a little thicker than both the iPad Air 2 or the iPad mini 4 at 6.95 mm, compared to the iPads thickness of 6.1 mm. The Mi Pad 2 weighs 322 grams (11.4 ounces) and has curved edges for easier holding.
Instead of a micro-USB port, the Mi Pad 2 uses the new USB Type-C port. This means faster charging and different cables than most tablets.
The Mi Pad 2 will run a customized version of Android under the MIUI user interface. Android runs well with the better Intel processor and 2 GB of RAM.
The graphics on the Mi Pad 2 are run by Intel HD. On the 7.9-inch screen, a 2,048 x 1,536 pixel resolution will be displayed, The Verge reports.
The Mi Pad 2 will come in two different storage options, either 16 GB or 64 GB. Only the 64 GB version will be able to run Windows 10.
A big 6,190 mAh battery is found inside the Mi Pad 2. Xiaomi says that the battery can last up to 12.5 hours for reading or watching videos.
In North America, the best way to purchase a Mi Pad 2 when it debuts in December is through a third party online retailer.
