The Kardashian family is being accused of exaggerating Lamar Odom's medical improvements in order to preserve the family's public image and conduct business as usual.

Radar Online reports that soon after estranged wife Khloé Kardashian and several family members rushed to Odom's side, the family returned to their busy lifestyle, with Kardashian quickly returning to promoting her new book "Stronger Looks Better Naked."

"Lamar's still having a lot of trouble speaking," a source said. "He really only mumbles, and can barely string a few words together."

Still, reports are that didn't stop the Kardashians from making the questionable decision to film him in his hospital room as he battled to survive. Presumably, the footage will be used for the family's "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" reality show.

The 36-year-old former NBA star has remained bedridden ever since he was rushed to a hospital emergency room, after being found unconscious and unresponsive in his room at a Nevada brothel last month.

"All I knew was I had to get there - I had to get to him and make sure he was okay," Kardashian said. "I hate that he was in that situation."

But, as the man who was still legally her husband lay bedridden, Kardashian continued to carry on her relationship with boyfriend and current NBA star James Harden. Kardashian was recently spied at a Houston Rockets game. She and Harden were then spotted all across town hanging out together, after Kardashian had spent the previous few days at Odom's bedside.

"Khloe and James are trying to stay in each other's lives," a source said. "Each day is something different, but they're trying to see if they can still be together. Cheering him on at his big game is a giant step forward towards making their relationship more solid again."
